Clients

GMO Advertising / Symantec

Aereal created the Java ad banners and Java/VRML buffer pages for GMO Advertising as part of the Web advertising campaign for Symantec Cafe, the leading Java IDE (Integrated Development Environment). The solution addressed concerns such as multi-platform performance, download times, and electronic word of mouth marketing. The technology included sophisticated Java applets, breath-taking graphic design, punchy sounds, bright HTML pages, and illuminating VRML worlds.

Symantec is a major software company, whose Cafe Java IDE is very popular among advanced Java developers. Goldberg Moser O'Neill is a top-notch award-winning advertising agency.

Hewlett-Packard Company

Aereal has worked with the Interactive Marketing Services division of HP's Direct Marketing Organization to develop advanced Web sites that are personalized for one-to-one marketing and individualized information, along with marketing databases.

Aereal founder Adrian Scott was previously an Internet Specialist at HP, where he helped produce several projects, including the first launch of HP's Internet Server Web site. The multimedia site included a game, a User Forum and sections with Case Studies, Product Briefs, and Executive Information. Scott coordinated with outside vendors and did final quality assurance, screened CGIs for security, and released site. This project required working on a tight schedule, still delivering within budget.

Hewlett-Packard is a leader in computing and many other fields. It is particularly well-known for its leadership in helping companies do business on the Internet.

RIKEN Gene Bank (Japan)

RIKEN is the Institute of Physical and Chemical Sciences in Japan, an institute with a long history of advanced research. Aereal is helping RIKEN's Gene Bank integrate their services with the World-Wide Web, so that you can order items like pieces of DNA over the Web from member banks: the Cell Bank, DNA Bank, Plant Cell Bank and Genetic Information Bank. It brings a new shade of meaning to the term "online banking"!

In addition, Aereal is working with RIKEN's Genetic Information Bank to help bring their services to the Web. Researchers will be able to analyze the structure and function of proteins over the Web. They will be able to view proteins in 3D using VRML and select parts of the 3D protein to get more information on structue and function. This will include links to other research databases.

Telepresence Research

Aereal has helped Telepresence Research with a project requiring advanced VRML and Web engineering for a Japanese company. Telepresence Research is well-known as a pioneer in telepresence (virtual reality).

Superscape

Aereal has helped Superscape with creating advanced portions of their site and private sites using CGI. These have included sophisticated database tracking. Superscape is a leader in advanced virtual reality applications and development environments, with years of experience in the industry.

Solutions

Java/VRML Ad Banners

Aereal has been pioneering new ways of creating advertisements designed for good click-through response. These can include the use of Java and VRML. Aereal recently created advertisements using Java and VRML for GMO Advertising's Symantec Cafe campaign.

Personalized Web Sites

Aereal has been a pioneer in creating sophisticated web sites with personalization. For instance, with Instant VRML Home World, people create their own VRML World with a free URL on Aereal's server. Aereal has also done special work for Hewlett-Packard in this area.

Online Commerce

Aereal brings a technical understanding of online commerce, but also adds a strong marketing focus to all online commerce web sites. Aereal has set up ordering software with database integration for One Share of Stock. Aereal is helping the RIKEN Gene Bank (Japan's Institute of Physical and Chemical Sciences) implement systems for online ordering of DNA and cells.

Spinning 3D Logos

Aereal can create spinning 3D logos in VRML for corporate web pages, Web product catalogs, and ad banners. They're real attention-getters!

Communities

With Aereal's focus on personalization, Aereal can help create online communities. Over 14,000 people have registered for Aereal's Instant VRML Home World community.

Tech

Java

Aereal has created several pioneering works in Java, including combinations of Java and VRML. Aereal also created advertising for GMO Advertising for Symantec Cafe, the hottest Java development environment. In addition, CEO Adrian Scott is the editor of the Java Professional Book Series (SIGS) and a regular contributor to Java Report magazine.

CGI

Aereal has been pioneering exciting sites using CGI for more than a year. Aereal has created advanced CGI engineering for Hewlett-Packard and Superscape, among others.

JavaScript

Grapher lets you graph a function and derivative in 3-D using JavaScript and VRML. You can set the beginning and ending coordinates for the graph, graph it on the client side for quick speed, and then move around it in 3-D. These techniques are useful for information visualization, for instance a bank or financial site that would like to let users calculate mortgage payments and then view payments to interest and principal in 3-D. Aereal created both VRML 1.0 and VRML 2.0 versions of this Grapher.

VRML

Aereal is developing exciting Java applications and applets that will work with VRML 2.0 and Netscape's Live3D architecture. The following screen shots show a world with a ball and text both moving around at different speeds in a spiral staircase pattern while gradually blinking in and out! VRML defines the geometry of the world, and Java animates the ball and text.

Aereal's Corporate Home World includes light beams that move around, Aereal's logo, and texture-mapped planets that link to parts of Aereal's site. This was the first corporate VRML home world, now in its third major revision.

Above and Below is an original Aereal world that includes a variety of viewpoints, for easy navigation. The world has a deserted island, a ship, an underwater shipwreck, sharks, a rainbow, and more. As an example of Aereal's ability to keep VRML file sizes low, this complex world is only 19K compressed.

CGI & Databases

Instant VRML Home World uses advanced CGI and a database on the server to let people register and also to store the VRML Worlds they create.

BOOM! lets you rate a random world from a database of more than 1000 VRML URLs. Ratings are entered in a rating database. All of this is done without using HTML, just CGI & VRML.

Graphic Design

Aereal's Logo was created using VRML and LightWave.

Other Projects

Aereal's team members have been involved in several other exciting projects.

Big Book. Created and Implemented Initial Mapping Design using Geosystems API.

Hewlett-Packard's Audio Conference on Taking Your Business to the Net Internet Slide Show. Managed site creation and release. Created comment form, accompanying CGI processing and automated information distribution.
